About:Chinese Embassy in Kenya

Have a potential client in Kenya trying to get a Chinese tourist visa to come here

however the Chinese Embassy in Nairobi is requesting a invitation letter and copy of registration from a Chinese travel agent (something that I've never heard anyone need for a tourist L type). We called up some travel agents here and none will do it, so I don't know how to help him get his tourist visa.. any advice would be recommended!

If so, the applicant needs to contact with a Chinese travel agent to book a tour and then ask the agent to provide an invitation letter and registration.

I doubt the Chinese travel agent is going to be able to help him though, seeing as he just needs a piece of paper and doesn't want to actually book anything. I'm sure the Embassy has a strategic partner for this stuff in Nairobi, maybe the brother or sister of one of the people working in the visa department looking to take a cut.

Mike, how did your client go about this? Was also told the same thing and it doesn't seem to make sense since I'm not willing to book a tour. Will appreciate a response.

Still no luck. I think the only possible way is for the client to book everything through a travel agent in Kenya who understands these new (onerous) requirements that the Chinese gov has applied. Will inform if any update.
