About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

144 hr free transit: Canada-HKG-shanghai-Canada

Hi, we are visiting Hong Kong and then will be flying through Shanghai for a 5 day stay before flying straight back to Canada. Does this require a visa? The exemption requirement states that you must be flying to a third country. Does visiting Hong Kong prior to Shanghai qualify?

Mar, no, a visa is not needed because you can enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. Visiting HK prior to Shanghai still qualifies.
