About:Tianjin Transportation

3 adults and 2 children need to reach Beijing after leaving a cruise at Tianjin Port.

Understand we could buy fast train tix on the day but with so many passengers wanting to do the same I imagine the queues will be horrendous.
Should we purchase in advance via website? Would we still have to join same queue to collect tix?
What is the current procedure for security checks before boarding the train and how long does it take?
Reading posts from years back here so would like update P

Dawn, it is suggested you book the train tickets in advance as the tickets might be a little bit hard to come by these days, but the reservation website is in Chinese, maybe you need some help from your Chinese friends. Or, it is advised you contact TravelChinaGuide via bookingtravelchinaguide.com to let them help you with the booking procedure.
Once the reservation is done, use your passport to collect the tickets at the ticket counter. There is a very large chance that you might encounter a long queue, you are suggested to reserve around 30min for ticket-collecting.
The security procedure is quite easy, just like the security check at the airport but less strict. It usually takes 2~3min if there is no queue.
May help! Have a nice trip!
