About:China Transit Visa

Hello! I'm a Malaysian and will be transiting through Beijing for less than 24hours.

I have a hotel booked just outside the airport. Is it necessary for a visa or will I be issued a temporary free visa?
Thank you in advance.

Melissa, if your travel route is country A-Beijing (less than 24 hours)- country B, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit. No visa will be needed then. You can just apply for a free temporary stay permit inside the airport, and then you can go out to stay at a hotel.

Sorry Les, I am stuck in the airport as the immigration wouldn't grant me the free temporary visa to stay at the hotel I have been booked in just outside the airport. Apparently, us Malaysians will just have to apply for a visa even for a transit just to stay near the airport. I had to pay for the expensive and lousy transit hotel in the airport.
