South African passprt holder wanting to know where to apply for a Tourist visa to vist China?

Good day,

I am planning a trip to visit a friend in Shanghai, China in February and was wondering where do I apply for my tourist L type? I live in Durban, South Africa so should I go to The Consulate General here in Durban or just to the South African Department of Home Affairs Durban branch here? Furthermore what would I need to take with me when applying for my L type in terms of documents etc.?

Thanks so much!

You should go to the CVASC branch in Durban. The address is: 45 Zenith Drive, Umhlanga New Town Center Durban. You should take the following documents: 1. your passport and a copy of it; 2. a completely filled-out application form with a recent passport style photo stuck onto it; 3. an invitation letter from your friend and a copy of his passport and residence permit.
