About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hi. I am a Canadian citizen

my flight is from Vancouver and land in shanghai airport Jan 13.2017 at 5:10 am with 2 hours lay over and at 7:05 am from shanghai to Kunming airport land at 11:35 am with 3 hours lay over and last flight from Kunming airport at 2:20PM to Vietnam. My total time lay over between two airport in China is 9 hours, I contact CVASC in Vancouver and she said I might need a tourist L type since I be stopping two different airport in China. Can you please confirm if I need a tourist L type? I already have a visa to enter Vietnam. Thank you

Long, actually, you don’t need a tourist L type because you will be eligible for the 24 hour direct transit if you travel like that.

Thank you Le. One more question, when I land in Shanghai airport, do I go straight to my next flight to Kunming, or I have to go wait in line to clear the custom, or I have to go to the 24/72 transit free visa counter.

You are advised to contact with the airlines and see if your luggage will be delivered to the final destination directly, if yes, you don’t need to claim it in Shanghai. Otherwise, you need to wait in line to clear custom. You need to apply for a temporary stay permit at the 24/72 hour transit counter.
