About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Q1 Visa to Temporary Residence Permit

OK, the issue is, after a little back and forth I received a Q1 type (focused on re-uniting with my Chinese Wife). Upon arrival from the UK (UK Citizen) I had extremely bad jet lag that developed into illness. As soon as I was well enough to be operational again adhering to the terms of the Q1 I went about applying for Temporary Residence only to be told that I should have registered with the local Shanghai Police within 24hrs arrival and step even more concerning on my previous trip (90 days stay on Tourist L type April - July), I was never given this information by the Agents I used (with one being Trailfinders) as such I received a verbal warning from the police. That brings me to the application, naturally appreciating time is of the essence I was grant the 30 Days Temporary Residence Permit to apply for the main one. As of tomorrow I am attending my Health Check and as soon as I receive those, hopefully middle of next week, afterwards my wife and I will be going back to the PSB to apply. The issue is that given the delay in actioning this due to illness etc the processing time stated for the Residence Permit will take me over the 30 Days granted. This is of great concern to both myself and my wife as I understand it with a Q1 I am not able to apply for an extension and with it being single entry am very limited in my options. I'm wondering if anybody else has been in a similar situation or can advise as we intend to explain the situation fully to the PSB and see what they suggest.

Andrew, don’t worry! As long as you submit the application for the temporary residence permit, you can stay in China until you get the result.
Of course, you can also go to the PSB and explain your situation to see if they can help you figure it out.

Thanks Daniel, that info does take some of the stress off. We'll still talk to the PSB and make them aware and see if there is anything they advise/ suggest but thank you again.
