If you do not leave the airport transit zone, you don't need it. However, it seems you need to leave for the ferry port, so you should apply for a transit visa in advance.

Nora, I was told the ferry terminal is within the international zone. Are you saying that it is outside and I have to pass HK Immigation in Hong Kong?
