About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Overnight stay in Beijing on way to HKG

Hi, we are traveling on Hainan Airlines from Chicago (ORD) to Hong Kong (HKG). We arrive in Bejing at 6:35pm and leave again the next day at 12:15pm. Can we use the 72 hour visa to stay in Beijing overnight?
