About:Transfer in T3 of Beijing Capital Airport

Domestic connection from international flight at Beijing Capital Airport.

We have a flight arriving in PEK from Auckland on Air China at 04:10 on the 24th december then have a transfer flight to Chengdu on another Air China flight at 0700. Is that enough time? Also do we need to collect our checked luggage for the transfer? Thank you for your time.

Yes, your time is enough. Generally speaking, you need to spend at least 2 hours to make this International to Domestic transfer both in T3. And you have to collect the luggage and recheck them again.
BTW, the correct transfer procedures are the following:
1. Inspection & Quarantine, Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection
2. Baggage Claim
3. Customs Inspection
4. Going through Transfer Formalities
5. Security check
6. Waiting & Boarding
