The Plank Walk

What's the fastest way to get to the Plank walk while still being able to see some scenery? I'll only have 1 day to hike the mountain, and the plank walk is the big reason why I'm going. Also, how do I get to the mountain from Xi'an?

The Plank Walk is at the South Peak. Since you have only one day, you are suggested to take cable car to West Peak, walk for about half an hour to the South Peak and experience the Plank Walk. After that, visit the rest of the main peaks and then get down from the North Peak. If time does not allow, you can get down from the West Peak by cableway.

From Xian, you can take high speed train (40 minutes) from Xian North Railway Station to Huashan North Station, then take a green minubus to the mountain for free. Or you may take subway line 1 to Xian Fangzhicheng Bus Station and take the regular bus to Huayin. The bus runs every 30 minutes and the ride takes about 2 hours.
