my main questions are.1. whats the best time of the year to do the plank walk for weather and the least amount of tourist.2. places to stay closest to the hike and aprox. prices

The best time to visit Huashan is from April to October. It is also the travel high season. As for the plank walk, it is open all year round unless the heavy rainy days or snow day. For the accommodation, you are suggested to stay near Yuquanyuan, which is the starting point to the hike. There are many hotels availabe and the price is around CNY100-200 per room.
