If you want to apply for a Chinese tourist L type, those documents are needed: your passport and its copy, the application form, a passport-sized color photo, your valid visa for Kazakhstan, and proof of transportation and accommodation arrangement.

You say I need to bring my Kazakhstan Visa, but as of my undersanding, Swiss citizens do not need it for Kazakhstan. So bringing my passport, copy, filled out application form, photo and proof for accomondation and transport should do it. No proof of finances, letter of invitation, health security, travel timetable etc?

If so, your entry record for Kazakhstan is enough. You don’t need to provide proof of finance, invitation letter, health security and travel timetable if it is not required by the embassy.

I could finally reach the Chinese embassy in Kazakhstan yesterday per telephone and their answer to my question was that as a non-Kazakh citizen I need to bring a working permit or a residence permit with me for the application and that as a tourist in Kazakhstan it is not possible to apply for a chinese visa.
