Do we need transit visa for a 7-hour layover in Guangzhou Airport en route to Sydney?

No, you don't need to apply for a visa. You can enjoy the 24 hours visa-free policy because of your layover is just 7 hours. However, if you wanna go outside and tour around downtown, you need to apply for the Stay Permit at the airport.
