About:Transfer in T3 of Beijing Capital Airport

London - PEK - Melbourne - PEK - London

Hi! We are flying from LHR to MEL via PEK, all with Air China. The layover is 10 hours on the way out, and 8 hours on the return. On the outbound, we are planning to go into the city to meet with my parents for dinner. But on the way back we might just stay in the terminal. We both have multi-entry Chinese visa.

My questions are: 1. when transit I-I, do we need to collect luggage at PEK, or will it be checked all the way to final destination? 2. on the outbound, what should we do to make sure we can enter Beijing but still have no problem re-entering the airport for our connecting flight? I assume we will receive all the boarding passes at the departing airport (ie. LHR or MEL). Thanks for your help!

1. You needn' t collect your luggage at PEK. It will be checked all the way through to the final destination.

2. Upon landing, you should apply for a stay permit at the Immigration Desk. Then, you can leave the airport for the downtown area. Remember to return to PEK at least 2 hours prior to departure time! Have a good trip!
