About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Leaving Beijing to go to the Jinshanling section of Great Wall on 72 Hour free transit

I was hoping to do a day trip to the Jinshanling section of the Great Wall which I believe is about 3 hours drive. I noticed in the details of the 72 hour visa that it says you can't leave the Beijing area. Has anyone done this before? Is it ok?

The 72-hour permit is for travels within Beijing boundary only and that section is way too far from Beijing.
