About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

canada to thailand - lay oever in xiamnen for 24 hrs - want to fly to hangzhou for a meeting

canada to thailand - lay over in xiamen for 24 hrs - want to fly to hangzhou for a meeting during the 24 hours, and fly back to xiamen - then back to canada.

i have a chinese business visa, but my wife does not.

can she get a temporary visa from the airport so she can come with me?

Your itinerary doesn't qualify for the 24-hour visa free transit, and since your wife doesn't have a visa, she will be denied boarding by the airline.

I take that back, your itinerary does qualify for the 24-hour transit, however it is likely that your wife may get a temporary stay permit valid only for Xiamen, hence she may not be able to travel with you to Hangzhou. Showing your inter-China ticket is a risky move as immigration may interpret that your wife has intention to enter China for travel while the 24-hour stay permit is for transit only.
