About:Chinese Embassy in Ecuador

Z Visa and S type for American citizens living in Ecuador

Hi there, my paperwork is en route from China to Ecuador and I need to finish the paperwork (started by the Chinese government in China) in Quito to receive my Z type stamp in my passport (and the S type stamp for my dependent son). What do I need to take with me to the Embassy in Quito (I live in Cuenca) and how long will it take, please? Also, what are the fees for the Z type and S type? Thank you.

You need to take two sets of application documents, one for you and the other for your son. The documents for you include: passport, passport copy, application form attached with your recent photo, a work permit, and a letter from a duly authorized unit. The documents for your son include: passport, passport copy, application form attached with his recent photo, your passport and its copy, and your son's birth certificate.

It normally takes four working days for the processing. The fees for the Z type and S type are the same, 60 dollars per person.

Thank you so much for this information, Barry. I have read that the process can be expedited for a fee. Is this still available? Do my son and I have to be present or can we send a representative with the paperwork and fees? Where do I get the forms needed? Thank you in advance.

Cece, if you choose the express service (2 working days needed), you need to pay extra USD20.
If you apply by rush service (one working day needed), you need to pay extra USD30.
You can just send a representative to apply on your behalf.
You can download the application form from this website, or from the official website of the embassy of China in Ecuador.
