About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Really confused - flying from Gatwick UK in January 2017 on Emirates to Hong Kong via Dubai.

staying 2 nights in Hong Kong then embarking Celebrity Millennium cruise ship to Far East. Disembarking in Shanghai and then staying for 2 nights in hotel in Shanghai before flying back to UK via Dubai with Emirates. Really confused as there seems to be nobody that can confirm that I can use this free transit and how to get it on arrival in Shanghai cruise terminal - booking agent, cruise company and airline say that they are not responsible for this. What do I do as I don't have time now to apply for a visa. Where do I get proper confirmation that I can use this 144 hour free facility and what is procedure to obtain this?

You are eligible. The immigration check is done after you disembark the ship. Check out Shanghai immigration's website if you are concerned or just give them a call.
