About:China Customs Declaration

I have a connecting flight to China, do they still check the amount of money i carry with me?

What happens if i declare more than $5000? Do they put tax on my money? Please help as I am bound to travel in a couple of days, connecting flight at China..thank you...

As I know, you still need to take check at China customs. So, you may need to declare for taking more than USD5,000. Oh, before leaving your country, you need to get permit for taking large amount of cash.
