About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying from Nepal to Shanghai via Kunming (no direct flights) - from Shanghai, flying to UK.

I was told I could use the 144 hour visa as I would not be leaving the airport in Kungming. However now I'm not sure. Any info?

You can only use the 24-hour TWOV since your flight has a stop in mainland China.
