About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

I am from Zimbabwe and was offered a position to lecture

at a university in Wuhan China for a semester and they are preparing an invitation letter for me to apply for F visa. Does this type allow me to teach at a university and how is it different from the work Z type? Is there no risk of working illegally? Please advise

Faith, if you are paid, you’d better apply for a work Z type. F type is usually issued to those who enter China to work or participate in other activities for less than 3 months, and the applicant is unpaid in most cases. Because the lecture will last for a semester, you may need a work Z type. You can contact with the embassy to confirm that.
