Is it possible to get a taxi when we land (using the 72 hour visa) to go to the Forbidden City for say 2 hours and come back in time for the flight departure? Is this feasible and if so how much will this be please?

To be honest, your layover is a little bit too short. You are advised to stay at the airport so as not to miss the flight. You can have a rest, eat something, or go shopping at the duty-free shops there!  :)
