About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hi I am a U.K. Citizen with a U.K. Passport.

I am stopping off in shanghai with in the 72hour limit. I am going to get a boat to Japan however I plan to buy the ticket in shanghai and I don't require a Japanese entry permit as I am not visiting for over 30 days. This means I have no third country visa or ticket to a third country. Am I still eligible for a transit permit.

If you wanna use the 144h twov in Shanghai you have to buy a confirmed ticket to Japan in advance.
Otherwise they'll not let you board on your flight to Shanghai.
