About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I'm planning a trip from LAX-PVG roundtrip from 12/24-1/1.

Hello,
If I have separate trip in between those dates going from Shanghai to another destination, do i qualify for the 144 hr visa again upon my arrival back to Shanghai?

Depending on the destination of your "separate trip". If it's in a third country, then yes. Otherwise, no.

If your trip involves a third country, Hong Kong or Macau, then yes.
