About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hello, if I am flying from San Francisco to bejjing. (Stay in behjing for 2 days )

then fly from bejjing to Canada which has a 8 hour layover. Then fly back to San Francisco. Will the 72 hour permit work for me ? Thanks
