Invitation Letter Requirements for M Visa for Americans

I am American Citizen and I have been invited from Chinese business to visit China.
The business company provided with the invitation letter, but the Chinese Embassy rejects my application. According the Chinese Embassy in Washington, the invitation letter must have a barcode on the top of page. Also, the original document.

However, I am not able to get my company to understand this requirement because its not listed on the US Chinese Embassy website.

Can you clarify?

Johnette, according to what you said, you may need an invitation letter from Chinese government. You can ask your business partner to get it for you. You can report what the embassy said to your business partner, and maybe they can get what you mean.
