About:Chinese Consulate in Brisbane

I am Australian flying from Brisbane and arriving in Beijing at 05.40am sat jan 21.

A 2hr 10min layover then depart Beijing 7.50am and arrive Xian 10.05am
Jan 21 and Jan 22 we overnight in xian.

Jan 23 fly to Hong Kong
Jan 25 ferry to Macao
JAn 27 and 28 have 2 nights in Hong Kong

Jan 28 depart Hong Kong.

Do I need a visa and if so what type and what is the cost.

Mary, you need to apply for a Chinese tourist L type or transit G type entry permit for that. It will cost AUD 109.5 per person.

Thanks for the info above.
I thought if I was a tourist in China for less that 72 hours I would not need visa.
Is that correct

Mary, I’m afraid it's not correct. The 72 hour policy is only applicable to those who travel by flight transiting in a Chinese city for less than 72 hours. If you want to enjoy the 72 hour free transit, you can only transit in ONE Chinese city, but you will transit in two. Thus, you don’t qualify for the 72 hour free transit.
