About:China Visa Application in UK

We are arriving in Shanghai from a cruise & then staying in a hotel for 3 nights.

I have read that a visa will not be required for a stay of 144 hours or less.
Is this correct?

Ros, after staying in Shanghai for 3 nights, if the country you will fly to is different from the one you come from by cruise ship, you can enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai.
