About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

I am a US citizen who will be flying from New York, USA to Shanghai, staying at a

hotel in Shanghai for two days prior to starting a 14 day cruise from Shanghai, first port of call Beijing, and ending in Hong Kong. Does the 144 hour visa free stay in Shanghai apply?

Ronald, I’m afraid it won’t be eligible for the 144 hour free transit because the cruise will sail to Beijing after staying in Shanghai. You may need to apply for a tourist L type entry permit in advance.
