About:China Visa

Baku-Urumqi-Guangzhou-Bangkok

Hello,
My flight details are below. I ll reach to urumqi at 07:25 and fly to Guangzhou at 09:10;
I ll reach to Guangzhou at 13:55 and fly to bangkok at 15:55.
So i ll stay total 8 hours in china. Will i need a visa for my flight?

Xakan, I’m afraid you need to apply for a transit G type entry permit if you travel like that.

Thanks for your answer but what is the reason that i can not use 24 hour rule for transit without visa? I ll stay in china less than 24 hour and i have my tickets to bangkok.

24-Hour Direct Transit
Under the 24-hour free transit rule, no visa is required for international flight, ship, or train passengers who transit directly through mainland China and will stay for less than 24 hours. This policy is applicable to almost all nationalities. Passengers should hold tickets to a third country or region and have a confirmed seat.

In case that they want to leave the port for city sightseeing or transfer to another port during the 24 hours, they can apply for a Temporary Stay Permit upon arrival. Those who transfer in more than one city of China within 24 hours can also enjoy this policy. For instance, if one’s trip is Los Angeles – Beijing – Shanghai – Bangkok and the total time in China is less than 24 hours, the passenger can still enjoy the 24-hour direct transit.

Dear, this is a special case. The transit policy in Urumqi is different from that in other places. Based on the information from the TIMATIC data base, if you transit in Urumqi more than 2 hours, you won’t be able to enjoy the 24 hour direct transit, so you need to apply for a transit G type entry permit for that.

Hello again Nelson.
Now you made me scared because it is hard for me to apply for a transit G type.
But i ll stay in Urumqi less than 2 hours. I ll land to urumqi at 07:25 and leave at 09:10. Total 1 hour 45 mins. Are you sure that i need a transit G type? :o

Dear, I know what you mean, but sorry, you still need to apply for a transit G type entry permit because you will also stop in Guangzhou. A transit G type entry permit is necessary.
