About:Visa Policy of China

do I need a visa; I fly into Shanghai and spend 3 days in the area before boarding a cruise ship.

Fourteen days later we port in Hong Kong and leave 2 days later for the U. S. I have a US passport and am a US citizen

If you will take the cruise to a third country or region instead of the last one you fly from, you will be able to use the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. In this case, no entry permit will be required.

Will I then be able to get into Hong Kong at the end of the 16 day multiple countries cruise and then fly out of Hong Kong to the US
