About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72hr & 144hr Visa free travel China

Regarding the 144 hr and 72 hr free travel, does the third country on the return have to be in Asia, or can it be in Europe as well. From what I understand, it just cannot be an exact Return RT with same itinerary of connection as traveler used to come into Shanghai.

George, it doesn’t have to be in Asia. It can be in Europe as well. For example, you can travel like USA-Shanghai-France/Japan, i.e. country A-China-Country B.

You need a visa since Beijing has a strict 72-hour policy.
