I'm Canadian and have a 24 hour Layover in Bejing

We have a 24 Hour layover in Bejining on our way to Thailand from Canada. We are both canadians, do we still have to apply for a visa during this time? We plan to make use of the 24 hours and do some sight seeing.

Karen, you don’t need to apply for any entry permit for that because you are able to enjoy the 24 hour direct transit in Beijing.
You can just apply for a free temporary stay permit at Beijing airport and then you can leave the airport to the city for sightseeing.
