About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72 hour & 144

I plan to fly to Beijing from Chicago. I'll spend 24 hours in Beijing then fly to Shanghai spend 24 hours there then fly to Sydney. I do the route in the reverse on the way back but don't plan to leave the airport. Can I do this on the 72 and 144 hour visas?

On your way back, if the total layover time in Shanghai and Beijing is not more than 24 hours, you don't need the transit permit. On your way to Sydney, you do not qualify for the 72 or 144 hrs free transit because of the layover in Beijing. So you need to prepare a G type beforehand.
