a separate round trip ticket from hong kong to beijing

Question

I was planning a stopover from Singapore to Hong Kong to USA ( final destination) .  What if I get a round trip ticket from Hong Kong to Beijing during my  transit period in Hong Kong and I still have a confirmed ticket back to USA.  Will I still qualify for 72 hrs. free transit visa to Beijing?  Please advise.

Callie, you mean you will travel like Singapore-HK-Beijing-HK-USA? If yes, you won’t be eligible for the 72 hour free transit in Beijing because you fly back to HK after visiting Beijing. However, if you can travel like Singapore-HK-Beijing- USA, you will be able to utilize the 72 hour free transit in Beijing.
