About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

i have us passport and want to go to hong kong.

can i go to shanghai and stay there and go back from shanghai

Mohsen, you mean you will travel like US-HK-Shanghai-US? If yes, and your layover time in Shanghai is less than 144 hours, you can enjoy the 144 hour free transit there.

Have us passport , but live in iran and i want do like this :
Iran-hk-shanghai-iran.
