About:China Visa Exemption

72 hour transient visa

I'm us citizen and flying from sf into Beijing for a 3 hour layover then head to chengdu where I'll stay for less than 72 hours then head to Seoul. Do I qualify for the 72 hour free transit or will I have to fly direct to chengdu?

Sorry, you do not qualigy. You have to fly direct to Chengdu.
