About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can you use the 144 hour visa twice within a short period?

My boyfriend is flying from the UK to Shanghai. Then staying with me for 3/4 days (I live in Shanghai). We plan to fly to Borneo for a week then return to Shanghai. Can my boyfriend get another 144 or 72 hour free transit when he returns to China (Shanghai) to then fly back to the UK? Do I need to register him with the local police? If so what paper work does he require?

Many thanks is advance for any advice/information. :)

Inga, yes, he can use the 144 hour free transit twice within a short period. He needs to register at the local police station by showing his passport, air tickets, valid entry permit for Borneo, and accommodation arrangement.
