Hi M! Don't worry as long as you have the necessary documents you will have no problem marrying your bf with a tourist L type. I just did that back in August and I only stayed there for 15 days, now I'm back in Singapore! I went to the Registry of Marriage in my country to obtain a marriage search record to certify that I am single. Took that piece of paper and went to authenticate it at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs complete with signature and stamp. Then I took the same paper over to the China Visa centre (in your case it might be your local China Embassy) to have it authenticate again. They will paste a flashy authentication sticker behind the paper. You need to have double authentication. Then I flew to Shanghai to the Consulate General of Singapore and did a Statutory declaration in front of the officer. The Consulate issued me both an English and Chinese translated letter confirming my single status. That is very important to have. Then when I arrived at my husband's hometown which is in Fengyang, I took my departure card given on the plane and reported my temporary residence at the local police station in Ban Qiao. Afterwards my husband took me on a 2 hours bus ride to the Civil Affairs Bureau in Hefei (they are the only authorised bureau to do registering of foreign marriages for anyone residing in the Anhui Province). We couldn't do it at the local Civil Affairs Bureau in Fengyang. The staffs there said they have no authority to do so, we have to go out of the county to the Prefecture which is Hefei. And so there at the department, we were both given two copies of the same form. I filled mine in English and his in Mandarin, gave them two photos we took nearby at a Photocopying service shop (I know right, that is so rush), paid about RMB240++ and WALA we are a certified married couple! I hope I'm not too late in telling you this. Just my two cents. Best wishes!
