Old passport with an overstay record and new passport will it affect my X visa application?

I am from the Fiji Islands and I overstayed a day in China with my Free entry. Now I am trying to apply for an X type with all the needed required ready . My old passport that I have been using has recorded me overstaying. Now I have a new passport . Will they still know about my record of overstaying a day ? Will it affect my X type application for China?
