About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Would like 72-Hour Visa-Free Transit in China with Recent Overstay Record

Hello,

We were wondering if it is possible to get the 72-Hour given that we have a recent overstay record, within 5 years. We reported the overstay, and the issue was resolved with a warning given but no penalty fine. We also received stay permit for the overstay. We are not in China right now. We are considering doing stopover in Beijing.

Good, it is important that you were not blacklisted. In any case, overstay is never a good occurrence because it always means more stringent criteria apply in your case.

As far as your intention to travel via mainland China using 72 hour visa free transit, there should be no some specific problems, but you should be aware that certain questions from the immigration official are almost certainly inevitable. Your overstay is recorded in relevant databases and that will follow you for some time.

OK, now when you know that you are allowed to travel via China, you should know that it is 144 hour visa free transit in the majority of places like Beijing, Guangdong province, Chengdu, Shanghai transit area and so on... 72 hour visa free transit is now applied to just several places...

You need an eligible itinerary where your mainland Chinese destination will have its immediate points before and after in two different countries or eligible territories and you are not allowed to have two mainland Chinese stops in a row - literally of any kind. Also, since you overstayed the last time, you are advised to have at least the first overnight booked in advance. I wish you a good luck.
