About:Chinese Consulate in Melbourne

If my flight has a transit in Guanghzhou for 15 hours

do I need to have a visa to explore the city for the day, or am I only able to stay in the airport if I dont get an entry permit?

B, if the flight will go to a third country or region instead of the last one you come from, you are able to make use of the 24 hour direct transit in Guangzhou. You just need to apply for a free temporary stay permit and then you can leave the airport to explore the city for the day.
