About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Chinese born in China, holding Canadian passport. Can't get a visa on time.

I am a Chinese born in China. Immigrated to Canada over 15 years. I am holding a Canadian passport. I will be going to Shanghai following a tour for less than 144 hours. Canada - Shangha - Taiwan - Shanghai (one night stay over a hotel) - Canada. Am I qualify for the 144 hour free transit? Since is a tour, I will be staying in hotels. Do I still have to report at the police station?

Maria, you qualify for the 144 hour visa-free transit in Shanghai for both legs of your trip. You need to register at the police station for your first transit in Shanghai and the hotel may do that for you in most cases and you are advised to double check that with the hotel.
You may not need to register when you transit in Shanghai for the second time because the transit time is less than 24 hours.
