About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

New York to Shanghai to Chengdu to Bangkok

I am flying from New York to Shanghai, staying 72 hours, and then flying to Bangkok BUT my flight to Bangkok connects in Chengdu (just 2 hours there, same airline, no change of terminals). Am I able to enjoy the visa free stay in Shanghai?

Jamie, if so, I’m afraid you cannot enjoy the free transit in PRC because you will stop over Shanghai and Chengdu. You need to apply for a transit G type or tourist L type for that.
