About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Canadians on cruise. Nagasaki - Shanghai - Okinawa - fly out from Hong Kong. Does 144hr visa apply?

Concerned about third country/region requirement. Can cruise line deny boarding in Tokyo if we do not have a China tourist L type for Shanghai? Thanks, Maria

I’m afraid you are not eligible for the 144 hour free transit if you travel like that because you will go back to Japan after staying in PRC. You should apply for a tourist L type ahead of your trip, otherwise, you may be refused to board.
