About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

i am travelling from United States to Shanghai and directly back to the US (no third country).

Am I eligible for the 144 hour free transit

Joe, if so, you are not eligible for the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. You should fly to a third country or region after staying in Shanghai. You can travel like US-Shanghai-HK/Macau-US, and then you will qualify for the free transit in Shanghai.
