About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

Australian citizen and will be travelling from Singapore to Guangzhou where I will spend one night.

The following evening I will fly from Guangzhou to Shanghai to meet my husband who is in Shanghai on business. I will then depart Shanghai the following day for Singapore before returning to Australia.

Do I need a visa for this quick trip to China or can I get a free transit?

Belinda, you cannot get free transit because your entry to PRC is not a transit. You need to apply for a tourist L type for your quick trip to PRC.
