About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

You mention that those staying in a hotel - will be registered at check in at the hotel -

and so do not need to go to Police station. However - I will be staying with a friend. Do I need to go to police station?

If your stopover in PRC is more than 24 hours, you need to register at the police station. If you will stay at your friend’s house, you need to register by yourself or your friend can go to the police station to register for you within 24 hours after your entry.
