About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Moscow-Shanghai-Guangzou-Melbourne

Hello,
My name is Bauti and I'm planning a trip to Australia via China in the near future.
My itinerary starts in Malaga (Spain), continues to Moscow and then Shanghai. I understand that I'm eligible for the 72 hour free transit as I'm departing again from Shanghai to Melbourne.
On my way to Melbourne I have a long stop over in Guangzou and I'm wondering if I could get a hotel at the airport in Guangzou and be still covered by the same visa?
I have another question: since I arrive and depart from Shanghai, can I enjoy the 144 hour free transit instead of only the 72 hour?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry, you don’t qualify for the 72/144 hour free transit in Shanghai because you will also have a stopover in Guangzhou. You need to apply for a tourist L type beforehand.
